Plant walk with PRMS Grade 8 Students

Grade 8 students in Mr. Bellis's classes were able to learn about Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and Indigenous harvesting practices from role model Chris Nelson and Curriculum Specialist Teacher, Lori Burger. Students were first introduced to the concepts of traditional ecological knowledge, and respectful harvesting practices as well as local flora and fauna in a classroom setting. The students were then able to go out on the land in McLymont Park trail in order to learn from the outdoors. Students researched local Indigenous plants and their uses for a cumulative project.
