National Indigenous History Month

As it is National Indigenous History Month, we challenge you to respond to the TRC's Calls to Action and MMIWG Calls for Justice by learning Indigenous history and reading authentic
contemporary Indigenous literatures!

Grade: 11/12

Genre: Horror Fiction
Curriculum Connections: Social Studies, Genocide Studies, Social Justice

This novel is an honest, chilling portrayal of a post-apocalyptic Anishinaabe town in Ontario. After the power unexpectedly goes out, Rice explores the necessity of relearning how to live from the land and reduce our dependency on modern conveniences before it’s too late!
