Hello all,
Tomorrow is first anniversary of the release of the Final Report on Missing Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). It is also National Indigenous History Month. We challenge you to inform yourself on the Calls for Justice for MMIWG here:
P. 193 for educators P. 199 For all Canadians
We will also continue to post resources for classroom and personal use,
so that you can find ways to address the Calls for Justice, and the TRC’s Calls to Action for all Canadians found here:
P.7 for all educators
Each of these are documents that are important for personal learning and can be utilized for classroom learning at upper Intermediate and Secondary levels.
Additionally, the book 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act, is a great personal learning resource which provides additional context into Canadian history and the impacts of this legislation on Indigenous peoples, available at Wap Sigatgyet.
